Things To Do In and Around Missoula, Montana

You've chosen an ideal place to make your home.

National Parks
Living in Missoula puts you a short drive away from two of the country's most famous National Parks. Glacier National Park is just three hours to the north and Yellowstone is four hours to the southeast. But you don't have to go that far to find the wilderness. Mount Sentinel, located just behind the University of Montana, overlooks downtown and the Rattlesnake National Recreation Area lies on the northeast border of Missoula. In less than a half hour in any direction, you'll find yourself surrounded by dense forest.
Summer
As you may have guessed, Missoula is a haven for the outdoor enthusiast. Fly fishing in Montana is a dream vacation for some. It can be a weekend hobby for you. If you're into mountain biking, horseback riding or hiking, there are more than enough trails to keep you busy. There's world-class kayaking and parasailing for those who like more extreme activities.
Winter
The fun doesn't stop in the winter. You'll find terrific cross-country skiing, snow shoeing and sledding minutes away in Pattee Canyon and in the Rattlesnake National Recreation Area. If you enjoy snowmobiles, there are hundreds of miles of snowmobiling trails in the surrounding areas. If it's downhill skiing you crave, Marshall Mountain and Snow Bowl are within miles of the city limits. Of course, hunting is popular here year-round.
